Hi, my machine is (ibook G3 800Mhz 12''), now keyboard layout is
perfect, but 'startx' command doesn't work, I obtain black screen.

$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
is empty

I'm reading many docs, on /usr/X11R6/README for macppc there is
"You need to set
machdep.allowaperture
to 2 in /etc/sysctl.conf"
and this is done.

I ran the command 'X -configure' and now I have 'xorg.conf.new', but
default driver is 'radeon' and doesn't work, I have changed it with
'ati' and now works but seems to be instable.

ctrl + alt + backspace to kill X server doesn't work.

you need to provide more info. dmesg for starters.
I have a ibook 12" G4. It used to be my daily computer.
I have a few year old snapshot on there and X works
very nicely. Since the ibook no longer gets used much,
it hasn't been updated lately; i have been meaning to.

Very nice. Now I'm using awesome WM and works fine but it is not
perfect.

I found a problem in default configuration

$ cd /usr/X11R6/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/

There is a fpit file (50-fpit.conf) , it is a "Fujitsu Stylistic input driver" for
tablet PCs.

I deleted 50-fpit.conf and now X works very well, with "radeon" driver.

That file should be removed from macppc default installation.

Thanks

The error messages above are "normal". Linux people don't care about
keeping their dmesg clean. And since the drm graphics drivers are
straightforward ports of the Linux code you get to enjoy the spam as
well.

So far we've quite deliberately not cleaned this up as some of these
messages are useful for debugging purposes.

looks like you fixed your issue and may not need this,
but since you asked, here is my xorg.conf (dmesg and
Xorg.0.log) posted here:

http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-ppc&m=127108503022457

but as I mentioned, it is a very old version. I hardly use
this ibook anymore.
