Documentation on adding to icon bar at bottom

I've been trying to discover how to add/delete icons, menus, etc from
the bar along the bottom of the screen. For example, on a newly installed
knoppix system here, there are icons for konqueror and firefox. I've
also installed seamonkey and opera, and I'd like to add their icons.
I've poked around at it, and failed. I've googled for docs and howtos
and failed to find them.

Anyone know where it's documented.

(It's so easy on my Mac that I do it accidentally at times. But similar
drag-and-drop to/from the icon bar doesn't work with KDE. There are
icons there, so someone must know how to do it ... ;-)
