I just switched from an old self-built gnumeric (vers 1.0.10) to the
fedora core 2 supplied rpm. When I open certain files which contain
financial functions (i.e. rate) the cell displays "Function
implementation not available" and I get the following error on the
console:
E Unable to open module file
"/usr/lib/gnumeric/1.2.8-bonobo/plugins/fn-financial/plugin.la".
E /usr/lib/gnumeric/1.2.8-bonobo/plugins/fn-financial/plugin.so:
undefined symbol: get_mduration

This could just be a fedora problem (see
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=124021 ), but I
did find the following thread which mentions the same error for
gnumeric version 1.2.9:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=get_mduration&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=1JO8j-20C-7%40gated-at.bofh.it&rnum=1
Any assistance would of course be appreciated and I would be happy to
try any suggestions which may help resolve the problem.
This is a known problem. A part of patch from head was accidentally
applied to 1.2.x before release. It was fixed in 1.2.10. The
current release is 1.2.13
