gnumeric charting feature

Hello,

I am trying to create a graph with a independent variable and a
dependent variable. However, gnumeric seems to just automatically
create the x-axis and then fill in 2 plots. What is up with this? If
I select two columns to plot, can't I graph them against each other
(ie one column is the independent and the other is the dependent
variable) so that I onlt get one line?

You're using a 'line' plot aren't you :-)

We've chosen to use MS Excel's terminology here, despite its
repeated failure in exactly this instance. What you want is an 'XY'
plot. A line plot is similar to a bar/col, the X axis is an
enumeration rather than an actual value.
