4-port sata controller suggestion, non-raid ?

Hi!

I'm looking for a recommendation for a 4-port sata controller.

Right now the system (10.3-amd64) has some dawicontrol board, which it does
not recognize 8-(

I am using three Highpoint Rocket 640L Lite (non-RAID) cards in one server
I have here. It is running 9-STABLE from a few weeks ago, but the plan is
to move to 10-STABLE real-soon-now. This setup has been running without
problems for over three years.

Hi!

I need another recommendation for a fast build host.

My current box:

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1230 V2 @ 3.30GHz

which means: 8 cores, with some SSD drives.

What hardware would you recommend with 32 cores, each of
them with 3.3GHz or faster ? Which board ? Which CPUs ?

I have never tried. In the machine in question the OS drive is
connected to a SATA port on the motherboard and the 640Ls are used
for the data drives.
