You can't do anything about folders appearing under [Gmail] - that's how the Gmail server presents them to IMAP clients. It's where you'll find the Starred folder BTW. I use other IMAP clients with Gmail and it's the same with all.
You can change Maildroid's settings so that sent mail, trash & spam are stored in their respective Gmail folders, which makes things more consistent.
However, there seems no option in Maildroid to save drafts in an IMAP folder, they're always stored locally. I would really like to be able to allocate an IMAP folder for this too. I access my email from various devices, and sometimes I'll start a message on one device, leave it as a draft, and finish it on another. You can't do this with Maildroid, which is annoying. :-(
I would actually like a Maildroid option to completely disable and hide all local "on device" folders, except for the Outbox, because for the reasons above, I don't want anything stored locally on the device (unless it's an automatically cached copy of what's on the server).

Or, a better question would be... How do I get the Starred, Drafts, Sent, Trash folders from gmail to appear AND sync correctly in MailDroid? Right now it's basically in an unusable state because:- my draft emails in MailDroid don't sync to my gmail.com drafts folder
- my trashed emails on MailDroid don't show up in my trash folder on gmail.com
- my Starred folder on gmail.com doesn't show up in MailDroid
- my Sent emails folder at least shows up on MailDroid, but under the [Gmail] folder instead of on the top level like other folders.
In my gmail.com settings (in the Labels tab), all of the above folders are set to "Show" and "show in IMAP." Furthermore, I've never changed any of these settings for the past 6 years that I've been using mobile email with gmail, and this is the first time I'm encountering these weird synching issues. Does MailDroid do something differently? And if so, I just need to know what the settings are to get mobile email working.
