Hello,
I want mailchimp (API) to 'talk' with a mysql database, all relevant
information for sending and personalization is in this database. Is
there also a tutorial (if this is possible).

The API is solely used to read from and write to your account. What
you do with that data on your side, such as storing it in mysql, is
then up to you. Write-ups #3 and #4 here may help you determine how
you need to put things together.
