Shopping Cart (1ShoppingCart) & MailChimp Integration

I am looking at 1ShoppingCart for my Shopping Cart. I am signed up
for Mailchimp because its seems like the best option for me.

But 1Shopping cart wants to charge me for the cart and then an
additional charge for the "autoresponder/email marketing" which is
what mailchimp in my mind is for.

The problem: I will be selling products online. 1ShoppingCart wants
to take over the role of autoresponse and email marketing (MailChimps
Job). I need to sell my products with a shopping cart and need an
autoresponse once the product is purchased.

My question is as follows:

If I 1shoppingcart is attached to my website and that is what I use to
sell products, when a product is purchased from my site, is there a
way that mailchimp would be automated/integrated with that sale? So
that mailchimp would send the autoresponse once the sale has been
made, as well as the follow up emails for future products.

Can you please explain to me how the shopping cart and the your email
distribution co-exist?

This group is for API development related questions, so this probably
doesn't belong here.

There are ways of using our API that could likely make something like
that work, but I have no idea what 1ShoppingCart may provide that
would allow hooking into their system, which is the first thing you
need to figure out. You'll need to talk to them and/or get a developer
familiar with them to flesh that out.
