I chatted with mailchimp support and was directed here. Hope somebody can help.

The mailchimp plugin for wordpress does wrork, but when there is an error, it returns the general error message only. The success message is returned properly.

In the failure message setup, which is under Form settings, there are three different error messages which can be setup.
1. General error message
2. Invalid email address message
3. Email address is already there message

When there is an error (either email existing or invalid email), only the general error message is returned. It will help if the error messages are specific.

Am I missing something?

David.

Hey David --

I just tested on the latest version of the MailChimp List Subscribe Plugin and got the appropriate error messaging for a member who was already subscribed.

If you're seeing issues with a specific plugin, your best bet would be to post on the WordPress forum specific to that plugin.
