I want to send an invite out with two big buttons, one "accept" and
one "decline".

Basically I would like the accept button to register within Mailchimp
that the user has accepted and is coming to the event and then send an
autoresponder saying "see you on the night!". The decline button
should note the user has declined in mailchimp and send an email
"sorry you can't come, see you at the next event".

Is this possible within MailChimp? I can make it go to a certain page
which will capture the data as a last resort but thought this may be
possible entirely within Mailchimp?

That's kind of out of left field - are you just assuming we have an
event tracking system (we don't) or am I missing something?

You could use eventbrite, though it won't have anything to do with the
API:

I suppose it was out of left field! I just assumed Mailchimp would
have some sort mechanism for garnering simple yes/no responses - I
thought it was part of the autoresponders section but I confused
myself!

Thanks for the quick reply Jesse, I'll code something up...

Did you ever create something? I'd love to have this sort of ability too!
