custom translated "almost finished" page and translate emails

Hi everybody,

do you know if it is possible (with the API or other solutions) to alter the confirmation page :

Almost finished...

We need to confirm your email address.

To complete the subscription process, please click the link in the email we just sent you.

translate it, or even host it ourselves as a custom page ?
Also, since I want to translate I should be able to translate the emails too, do you think that would be possible ?
I took a brief look at the API but you could point me in the right direction ?
