Zsh version 3.1.3 has been released!
====================================

This is a beta release. People requiring maximum stability should
continue using version 3.0.5.

Information on finding the latest Zsh versions, the Zsh FAQ and
documentation can be found in the META-FAQ, included below. The 3.1.3
files should appear on all mirror sites within a couple of days.

Release 3.1.3 files

The complete source is in zsh-3.1.3.tar.gz. zsh-3.1.3-doc.tar.gz contains
preformatted PostScript, DVI, HTML and Info documentation for those who
do not have the necessary tools to compile these from the sources.

zsh-3.1.2-3.1.3.diff.gz contains the patch against zsh-3.1.2. If you
already have zsh-3.1.2 go to the zsh-3.1.2 source directory and do

gunzip < zsh-3.1.2-3.1.3.diff.gz | patch -p0
touch configure stamp-h.in

zsh-3.1.2-zefram4-3.1.3.diff.gz contains the patch against the unofficial
zsh-3.1.2-zefram4 release.

Release 3.1.3 changes
=====================

The globbing code has been changed significantly, to perform correct
pattern matching with backtracking. This means that more complex
patterns, that previously didn't work correctly, now do.

New KSH_GLOB option emulates ksh's extended glob syntax. This option
is enabled by default if zsh is invoked as ksh.

Some new completion features: completion within brace expansions, compctl
option -/ to complete to directory names (useful with -g), some other new
compctl options. Many new or updated compctls in Misc/compctl-examples.

There are many bugfixes and other changes. For a more detailed list,
see the ChangeLog file.

Are you going to release your CVS/RCS tree too? The zsh-3.1.2 RCS is not
even on the archive, which is strange since the zsh-3.1.1 RCS tree is
there. The 3.1.2 RCS tree has 3.1.1 too. The 3.1.2 RCS tree can still
be found at ftp://ftp.cs.elte.hu/pub/zsh-old/zsh-RCS.tar.gz

Has anybody successfully built this release?

Here (IRIX 6.2) configure terminates with

creating ./config.status
creating Makefile
Can't open :Makefile.in
creating Doc/Makefile
Can't open :Doc/Makefile.in
creating Etc/Makefile
Can't open :Etc/Makefile.in
creating Src/Makefile
Can't open :Src/Makefile.in
creating config.h
UX:cat: ERROR: Cannot open :config.h.in: No such file or directory

Thanks for any hints,
Helmut.

Just apply this patch to configure:

Yes, now it builds, but the new zsh dies of a segment fault here!

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Helmut.

Yes, but not unmodified using a SysV sh.

>creating ./config.status

The bug is in configure{,.in}. It doesn't handle echo translating '\\'
to '\'. The very simplest solution is to use zsh or bash to configure.
Do either

$ bash ./configure ...

or, from zsh,

% ARGV0=sh zsh ./configure ...

This will be fixed in the next release, which, considering the seriousness
of this particular problem, will probably be fairly soon.
