6871 Sun Tops IDC Supercomputer Rankings In Enterprise Category

The most recent IDC Balanced Rating test shows Sun powering 30
percent of the top 50 supercomputing sites and over 50 percent of
the top 46 clusters in the Clustered Enterprise category. Sun
also leads in the Technical Divisional category of HPC, with 20
percent share of revenue and the only gain for the quarter among
HPC vendors.


6859 Sun Increases UNIX[R] Server Market Lead

International Data Corporation's (IDC) Q1 2002 Enterprise Server
Tracker Report shows an increase in Sun's share of the
RISC/UNIX[R] systems server market of five percentage points to
42.8 percent in the ASEAN and India market. IDC also reported
that Sun leads the RISC/UNIX server market in the ASEAN and India
region with a 64.1 percent unit shipment share.

6872 I3C Announces New Life Science Protocols

The Interoperable Informatics Infrastructure Consortium (I3C) has
drawn up new protocols and specifications, including the Life
Science Identifier (LSID), which defines a common, logical naming
convention for biological data, in an effort toward simplifying
data exchange and knowledge sharing within the life sciences.
