Thank you, several people found the exact paper that the student had
downloaded. I learned a great tip that you might want to squirrel away.
The fastest way to find the plagiarized paper was to type in a fairly unique
phrase from it and use a search engine to find an exact string search. One
person pointed out that using phrases from early in the paper often gets the
best results. This particular case of copying really got my goat because the
student didn't just copy the paper and hand it in--he went on to add several
lengthy paragraphs about why he didn't choose one of the teacher's topics
because he had been so fascinated by the comedy aspects and on and on about
how he had worked extremely hard to get everything just right and that he
felt it was the best work he had ever done--ad nauseum. The paper was an
exact copy from the Internet--without one word changed!
