Curious George: No tail?

Okay, now that I've finally been able to pull my jaw up off the floor I can
post this.
I have some parents of a kindergarten and pre-K students who are apparently
upset that Curious George is not anatomically correct in that he has no
tail. They wrote a letter to the preK teacher asking why. She came to me and
I said *maybe it's because he is a chimp." The parents wrote a letter
saying that George is referred to as a monkey throughout the book and that
monkeys have tails and that they feel the book is confusing to children who
are being taught proper anatomy. They found the Curious George website and
sent them an email demanding to know why CG is not anatomically correct.
I feel a challenge coming on... If they weren't so serious about this I'd
think it was hilarious. What do you think?

According to the '93 edition of Americana, all monkeys DO NOT have
tails - "the most notable exceptions are the Celebes macaque,
sometimes called the black ape, and the Barbary macaque, sometimes
called the Barbary ape".

any darn stupid thing they can to squawk about. It must be nice.

Everyone knows that poor Curious George was born with a birth defect, and,

Curious George's tale is hanging from my car antenna. So he has a tale, it
just is not connected to his body anymore. It does impress the passerbys
though. ;-)
