The National Institute for Urban School Improvement is pleased to
announce its Web site at:

http://www.edc.org/urban

Funded by the Office of Special Education Programs in the U.S. Department of
Education, the Institute has been designed to support capacity building in urban
schools and school districts. Our mission is to support inclusive urban
communities, schools and families to develop sustainable, successful urban
schools through networking, technology, action research, information systems,
professional development schools, model building, consensus building, and
dissemination.

Top 5 Reasons to Visit the Urban Institute's Web Site:

* Facilitated Discussion Forums, linking a national network of individuals
committed to improving educational outcomes for children and youth with
disabilities in urban schools. This is a place for visitors to discuss timely
information, post questions, connect with others, and provide communication and
perspectives to Institute leadership and staff. In the future, we will be
offering online events and workshops related to urban school improvement.

* A searchable Resource Database to help bridge the gap between research and
practice in the overlapping fields of urban education reform and inclusive
schooling practices. Search for annotated references to book and journal
articles, videos, position papers, project reports, program descriptions, and a
variety of other media.

* A calendar database of upcoming conferences, workshops, seminars, courses,
calls for papers, and other events in the fields of urban education and
inclusive schooling. Browse upcoming events and/or suggest events for the
database we do not know about.

* E-News, an electronic newsletter delivered via email. E-News is designed to
keep visitors of our site who have indicated an interest in our work informed of
new developments in urban education and inclusive schooling via electronic mail.
Distributed once per month, E-News serves to inform visitors of the work of the
Institute and other organizations engaged in similar work, upcoming conferences
and events, new online and off-line products and resources, and other news
happening in the field. Sign up to receive E-News via your emailbox.
