The New Year is blasting off to a fabulous start. Next week we will
kick off our Female Frontiers project with a web chat featuring Nancy
Roman, NASA's first chief of Astronomy and the first women to hold an
executive level job at NASA. Nancy's chat will begin our series of
interactive events featuring women who have achieved firsts in their
fields. This series of events honors Eileen Collins, the first female
space shuttle commander of STS-93 scheduled for an April launch. More
details about this event and registration for chats can be found by
linking from the Women of NASA home page at:
http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/women
and from the Female Frontiers pages at:
http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/frontiers

Following our kickoff next week, we will continue to add more chats and
webcasts, profiles of "frontierswomen" and assembling curriculum
materials to support this feature project. I was delighted to have
been invited shortly before Christmas to interview Eileen in the shuttle
mock-up at Johnson Space Center, and we'll be bringing that interview to
the Website soon.

The Female Frontiers webchats will be incorporated into the Women of NASA
weekly chats so you will see the same schedule listed in both places. You
may register in either place. I will continue to keep you updated as we
add new profiles and events.

It is also time once again to send out our yearly survey. This does not
take much of your time but does give us valuable feedback to improve our
project and continuing funding. I would greatly appreciate it if you could
take a few moments from your busy schedules to answer it.

All the best to you in the New Year,
Tish Krieg
