Error Completing Mail Merge

After filling in a template I created myself, the mail merge gave me the below error:

"We could not merge your document. This might happen when your document is too heavy or has too many formattings applied. Please edit your document and try again."

I'm not sure what "heavy" means in terms of my document, but does this mean I cannot have any of my own formatting for the templates I try to mail merge?

Hi,

Try to remove formattings or reduce the size of your document, then try again. The add-on can't handle large document due to restrictions on Google Docs.
