How to add images when merging a google docs

Hi,
I tried to add images (logos) on a google docs but when I merge the images doesn't appear. I have an empty shape instead.
I tried to add images as a merge field (using <img> at the column name and using Drive link to the logo I want to use) but again it doesn't work.
Can you help me please?

Hi Charlotte,

You might have issues with images, due to a bug from Google Docs. Copy/pasting images from their API is unreliable as this stage. We have reported this right here and have introduced a feature request right here. We are actively monitoring any updates from the Google engineering team and will ping you as soon as we have more information.

I'm really sorry for that. In the meantime, you should be able to merge images that are publicly available online (e.g. use "Search images" or the "URL" tab when inserting images).

Hope the bug is fixed now ! What is the procedure/codes to include in the template in order  to insert a personnalized picture/photo on my letters made with Mail-Merge app ?  Where to store the pictures ?

I've been able to get it working by inserting the image through a "Drawing":
  1. Insert | Drawing | New
  2. Image | (insert as you wish)
  3. Save and Close

The inserting of drawings works for me in general, but there appears to still be an issue or my template is just too complicated.  I have drawings behind text and inline with text.  I want the drawings inline with text to move with the text.  This appears to cause some issues.
