Dear MI,
I hope the domain name has been registered.
I do not agree with the suggestion on the long domain name: www.iwantmyoldkarachiback.org It is unrealistically long.
The idea of a domain is an easy address. ‘I want my old Karachi back’ may sound very familiar to us who are on the FB page
but for many others it may mean anything.
I would also once again request all to use the google group email as the existing thread does not have a few people who are
on the google group. Example: Maria Shaikh and Maroof Imam.
Thanks and regards
Imran

I went on to the Net to search for two possible domain names, www.maikolachi.xxx and www.kurrachee.xxx. There is a Pakistani gentleman based out of Arlington, Taxes who owns www.mailkolachi.com, but the same name with extensions .net, .org, .com.pk, etc., are available for booking as of now. Also www.kurrachee.com along with all its variants is available. I am going to register the domains www.maikolachi.net, www.maikolachi.org, www.maikolachi.com.pk, www.maikolachi.pk and www.kurrachee.com in a bit. At some point we should also consider approaching Faisal Bhombal if he would be willing to transfer the ownership of the domain he has in his name. Apparently, he is not making any use of it since 2007 when it was first registered.

Sorry Danny! This epidemic (dubbed Mai Kolachi Pagalpund, English translation of which is My Karachi Mania) has already spread like a wildfire. Hence, I am not hopeful if anyone can (although I don’t doubt the innate potential of any individuals…be they firefighters, medical practitioners, paramedics, legal advisers, consultants, businesspeople, systems specialists, writers….etc, etc.,) find a cure to it. BTW, the first computer virus BRAIN is also a Pakistani invention. This has spawned an industry of its own.
Javed Bhai, excerpts from Wikipedia are being reproduced without permission. Please do come to my rescue if there are any legal consequences to it J
“Brain is the industry standard name for a computer virus that was released in its first form in January 1986,[1] and is considered to be the first computer virus for MS-DOS. It infects the boot sector of storage media formatted with the DOS File Allocation Table (FAT) file system. Brain was written by two brothers, Basit Farooq Alvi and Amjad Farooq Alvi,[2] from Lahore, Pakistan.”
Danny your name, if not in history books, will also be on Wikipedia soon. God willing, for all the right reasons!
All of you have a lovely weekend…whatever is left of it.
Thanks and regards

Hey Karachities how many of you have heard about Karachiitis Addictitus,
The only thing I blame my self for spreading is Karachiitis Addictitus which is an inherent incurable dieease which is what you catch as soon as you start reading the posts or posting the same & unfortunately there is no cure for this . As I shud know I have this disease since March 2012 & guess what it becomes worse & worse as families fight for your time & attention/affection but once you are hooked there is no cure. The only cure is that you have to give this disease which by the way is contagious to all family & friends so they can all get it to. By the way
Karachiitis Addictitus
is being mentioned in the American & British & Karachi medical journals as a very serious medical affliction/condition/problem & even CDC has found no cure for it.
By the way ew have plenty of doctors on this page & we should challenge them to find a cure immediately before it becomes an epidemic.

Dear Shahbaz, hello.
Greetings dear all.
I regret for being not being able to attend the meeting today.
However, this sounds like a very interesting project and I will be delighted to contribute in whatever capacity I can. Was part of it earlier too when the idea was initialised a few months back but could not keep track after it was delayed.
Have a few things in mind regarding the meetings and how we proceed. Will share here in a day.
In the meantime, I have a query. Was there any criteria to select this group for this work? Or is it only a brainstorming initial team and might add on as we move forward?
My name is Huma Iqbal. I am currently working as Communications Manager for a reproductive health social enterprise. Earlier to this, I worked as Media & PR Manager at The Citizens Foundation. Started my career in 2009, right after my masters in Mass Communications from Karachi University. Worked as an assistant editor at a political and economic magazine for 2 years and later joined the development sector.
I freelance for various publications including Dawn. Have taught current affairs and creative writing at the Karachi University. I like to travel and very keen of reading and dreaming.
I work 16 hours a day and many times I am on field/travel. Might not be able to respond to email on a daily basis but being the journalist (some say a work freak) that I am, it cannot be an excuse to not stay connected!!
Looking forward to step 2.
Best.

Mohammed Imani is just like my little brother and I know him since he was a child, his sister Nafisa and my late sister Parveen were close friends in the 50s & 60s at Plaza Qrts, I fully vouch for him and I am sure he will bring a lot of value in whatever good we all intend to do.
As far as I am concerned Danny and I happen to be classmates at St. Patrick's College from 1969 to 1973 and have kept in touch since then on and off. After B.Com. I went into my family profession of law, however, had to wind up my Dad's old law office after his early death when I was too young and not qualified to continue his practice. After having worked as a pupil with a couple of very senior lawyers in 1977-78, I joined the law firm of Vellani & Vellani in 1979, left them in 1991 and worked as an in-house legal adviser for ICI Pakistan Ltd but rejoined Vellani in Dec 1992 and still there.
Most of my legal work involved advising MNCs & leading local clients on Intellectual Property and other general legal matters, having also conducted IP & other cases in the courts at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, etc. Being in the IP field I was also required to travel abroad almost every year for IP conferences.
Born in Karachi in 1953 I went to the BVS Parsi High School, St. Patrick's College, S.M. Law College and to the IBA & British Council for short courses in Management, Computer Concepts and Advanced English.
I was a prefect and hockey captain at school and selected in the cricket and hockey teams of St. Pat's & S.M. Law Colleges, I also contributed articles and poems during my school & college days for the respective annual magazines and was elected the Chief Class Rep at St. Pat's College.
At present I am an Advocate of the High Court and a Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Intellectual Property Rights Association (PIPRA).
I wish all the best to you all in our future noble endeavors.
Best regards,

Background: Management and Information Systems Consultant. My forte is to borrow your watch and tell you the time ☺. On a serious note, I try to give shape to what may appear an abstract or nebulous idea. In corporate or consulting parlance, I help client companies transition from Chaos to Order. In plain, simple words, I like to challenge myself to achieve what others consider impossible. My retort to say naysayers is, if you think you can then you can, and if you think you can’t then you can’t. BTW, I will take on any role the team leader and members deem fit for me - even if it requires me to sweep and mop the floor, make tea/coffee and wash dishes to keep everyone focused and motivated.
