Increase four times the number of judges at all levels
Dear Dr Farogh Nasim,
The number of cases increases every year, but the number of judges remains the same. As a result, cases take longer and longer to decide. The number of pending cases is huge, from the lowest level to the Supreme Court. In this situation, it will be almost impossible to decide ever the pending cases, not to speak of deciding every case in a year or two. With an average of three minutes for a case, not even a superhuman judge can do justice.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justices of all High Courts may hold a meeting and order the Governments to increase four times the number of judges at all levels with immediate effect. The Central and the Provincial Governments must provide required funds in the current and next budget for buildings, staff and other requirements. The law graduates and lawyers with some experience may sit for the recruitment process.
