Nothing can be achieved without people, in good times and difficult ones. Business strategies and priorities change and this calls for flexibility in people initiatives and programmes. The vision, values, long term strategies and management philosophy define an overall approach to people

management and development, supported by processes and programmes. But in addition to this HR needs to be responsive to current priorities and able to understand the people implications of them, responding as needed.

In this master class participants will learn about

• The factors to be taken into account in building strategies

• Different kinds of people and HR strategies

• Deriving a “general people strategy” from the corporate strategy

• Systematically deriving people initiatives from current business goals to enable management to succeed with them

• Prioritizing requirements

• Monitoring progress and success

• Building a strategy for an effective HR function separately from the people strategy
