Mystery shrouds the case of the Hyderabad-based 23-year-old software engineer, Esther Anuhya, who went missing in Mumbai since January 5.

Anuhya, who works as software engineer at Tata Consultancy Services, Goregaon, had come for Christmas holidays to her parent’s place, now living in Machilipatnam, and had boarded the Visakhapatnam-Mumbai LTT Express on January 4 at Vijayawada.

But according to her father, a retired professor, who had lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police here in Vijayawada, he had lost contact with her from January 5.

Families questioned

The GRP Superintendent of Police, Ch. Shyam Prasad, told The Hindu , that two families who were her co-passengers had been identified and questioned.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was in constant touch with persons known to her till 9.30 p.m. on January 4.

While one family alighted at Pune, the other confirmed that Anuhya got down at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai on January 5.

However, her parent’s claim that Anuhya had two cell phones and she did not respond to their calls from January 5. Her father immediately lodged a complaint with the GRP in Vijayawada, and the GRP had despatched an officer to Mumbai to take up the case jointly with the Mumbai police.

The techie employed with TCS had boarded the Vizag-Mumbai LTT Express on January 4 at Vijayawada
