In fact, you should serve yourself first to be able to serve others. If you want to purify your mind but do not make efforts to generate love and compassion for others, if you do not try to help them to come out of suffering, you are certainly not progressing on the path of Dhamma.
Follow the path of Dhamma and continue to purify your mind and also help others to purify their own minds and gather merit.
