How to fix Error Code 12 on Dec 21150 or PCI standard to PCI Bridge
I. Remove Non Magma PCI card or Third Party PCI card from the chassis
Note: Don’t install any Third Party PCI card until you verified and
checked that Magma device is working and installed properly.
1. Power off the Laptop
2. Turn off the Chassis
3. Remove Non-Magma or Third Party PCI card from the chassis
4. Power on the Chassis before attempting to power on your laptop
5. Make sure that the chassis and cable remain firmly connected to
your computer.
II. VERIFY the Error
Note: When viewing Device Manager always select “View Devices by
Connection”.
1. Go to start >> Control Panel >>Select System.
2. Select Hardware Tab
3. Select Device Manager
4. Click View and select View Device by connection.
5. Expand all the + plus sign
6. Go to PCI bus and expand the + plus sign.
7. Below the PCI Bus you will see more attached devices >> expand all
the + plus signs
8. Look for …Cardbus Controller (i.e Texas Instrument, O2 Micro,
Ricoh, Generic, Topic100 ).
9. Under the card bus controller (expand the plus sign to see more
devices)
10. You should see Dec 21150 with the yellow bang or exclamation
mark.
11. Using the mouse right click the Dec21150 and select properties.
12. Go to General Tab
13. Within the General Tab, Device status>> you should see error code
12.
14. Error code 12 Means the Magma Driver is not installed.
III. Verify Magma Driver
1. Go to start >> Control Panel >>Select Add/Remove Programs
2. Look for Magma Expansion Driver
3. If Magma Expansion can’t be found that means the Magma driver is
not installed.
IV. Disable active Antivirus Software
Note: Before attempting to install the Magma Driver you must disable
the Antivirus software via Windows “msconfig “.
1. Go to Start>>Select “Run”
2. Type in “msconfig” and click OK
3. System Configuration utility Panel will show up;
4. Select “ Services” tab and look for the Antivirus software (i.e
Symantec, Norton and etc.)
5. and uncheck the “checkbox”.
6. Click “Apply” and OK
7. Reboot
IV. Install Magma Driver
Note: Avoid using the “Update Driver” in Device Manager to install
Magma Driver because that is not the proper way of installing the
Magma Driver.
1. Install Magma Expansion driver by using the Magma CD.
2. Go to PC
3. Go to Windows Card bus driver install folder
4. Select and run setup.exe
5. After running the installation, reboot
6. After rebooting, you’ll get a “New Hardware Wizard” prompt
7. Click this time only>>>Click automatic install>>>it will install
the driver, then manually reboot.
8. After second reboot, verify if the devices and see if they are
installed properly in Device Manager.
