Hello,

I wanted to provide an update on a few issues using Protools 7.4 with
a Macbook Pro.

First, my configuration: Macbook Pro 2.2GHz, OS 10.5.3, Magma 4 slot
PCIx (pericom chipset), HD2 Accel (1 core+1 Accel), Protools 7.4.2

1st minor issue: with the chassis plugged in, I loose the Mac's menu
items on the upper right of the screen: date, time etc. I also loose
the ability to make screen shots: command/shift/3

2nd issue is more "major". While Protools runs fine, I can not change
the playback engine size - at all. The system starts with a playback
engine of 48 voice/1 DSP, and any change results in a crash and the
need for a completely fresh install.

I haven't found anyone else running this system and so I haven't been
able to check others' results. I do know that some people running a
Digidesign approved HD systems on Intel Macs have had memory
allocation issues (corrupt kext file??) when changing the playback
engine, resulting in the same crash and subsequent need for a fresh
install.

No official word on this from Digidesign, as this isn't an "approved"
setup. I just thought I'd share my findings with you to expand your
knowledge and keep the forward momentum.
