Below are the basic and simplified instruction on how to install
ExpressCard driver


Install Ecard Software
1. Install Ecard driver



2. Shutdown Laptop
*** Do not connect the Ecard yet****

*** Do not power on the chassis yet****


NOTE: Remove any 3rd Party PCI card in the chassis (i.e Video)

3. Go to control panel >> Go to Add/ Remove programs

- check and verify if Magma Ecard 1.0 is there.



4. Turn off Laptop



5. Connect the Magma chassis unit to ExpressCard



6. Insert ExpressCard to Laptop's expresscard slot

7. Power on the chassis

8. Power on the Laptop

9. Go to Windows Device Manager, view device by connection

- Select and expand PCI Bus

- Select and expansion Intel 82801 PCI Express root port

- look for PCI standard PCI to PCI Bridge, select and expand; you
should see Pericom Bridge.

If you are having problem with the Ecard installation, Windows Device
manager fails to detect it do the following:



FOR Windows XP

1. Shutdown laptop
2. Shutdown Chassis
3. Remove or disconnect ExpressCard from laptop
4. Power on ExpressBox (do not connect the ExpressCard yet)
5. Power on Laptop and then Press F8
6. Windows Advanced Options Menu will show up ( do not select
anything yet)
7. Reinsert the ExpressCard
8. Select “Start Windows Normally” from the Windows Advanced Options
Menu
9. Press Enter

Wait for a few moments until all the programs are loaded in.

Check the Device Manager + View Devices by Connection Expand the
devices and go to PCI Bus, and find the PCIe Card that is installed in
ExpressBox.

Again, don’t look for the ExpresBox and ExpressCard because they are
transparent or invisible to Windows Device Manager.

If you don’t see the PCIe Card do the following:

Disconnect the ExpressCard from laptop

1. Install the Ecard driver 2.0, from http://www.magma.com/download/EcardDriver2.2/Ecard2_2.zip

2. Reboot laptop (do not connect ExpressCard yet)
3. Install Ecard Patch from http://www.magma.com/download/EcardDriver2.2

4. Shutdown laptop
5. Power on the Chassis ( do not connect the ExpressCard yet)
6. Power on the Laptop
7. Windows will prompt you to insert express card
8. Insert ExpressCard then press Enter
9. Windows will automatically boot

Once you are logged on in to Windows, wait for a few moments until all
the programs are loaded in.

Check the Device Manager + View Devices by Connection Expand the
devices and go to PCI Bus, and find the PCIe Card that is installed in
ExpressBox.


Windows Vista


Note: Magma Driver is not required. No need to install the Ecard
driver and Ecard patch in Windows Vista.

10. Shutdown laptop
11. Shutdown ExpressBox
12. Remove or disconnect ExpressCard from laptop
13. Power on ExpressBox (do not connect the ExpressCard yet)
14. Power on Laptop and then Press F8
15. Windows Advanced Options Menu will show up ( do not select
anything yet)
16. Reinsert the ExpressCard
17. Select “Start Windows Normally” from the Windows Advanced Options
Menu
18. Press Enter

Wait for a few moments until all the programs are loaded in.

Check the Device Manager + View Devices by Connection Expand the
devices and go to PCI Bus, and find the PCIe Card that is installed in
ExpressBox.

Again, don’t look for the ExpresBox and ExpressCard because they are
transparent or invisible to Windows Device Manager.


If you don’t see the PCIE card do the following

1. While the laptop is on and ExpressCard is connected
2. Disconnect Express Card, wait for few seconds
3. Reinsert the ExpressCard and see if the PCIE card is detected
4. if not, go to Device Manager again and rescan for new hardware
