On 31st of October 2017, the final day of the year of the common ecumenical Commemoration of the Reformation, we are very thankful for the spiritual and theological gifts received through the Reformation, a commemoration that we have shared together and with our ecumenical partners globally. Likewise, we begged forgiveness for our failures and for the ways in which Christians have wounded the Body of the Lord and offended each other during the five hundred years since the beginning of the Reformation until today.

On this day we look back on a year of remarkable ecumenical events, beginning on 31st October 2016 with the joint Lutheran-Catholic common prayer in Lund, Sweden, in the presence of our ecumenical partners. While leading that service, Pope Francis and Bishop Munib A. Younan, then President of the Lutheran World Federation, signed a joint statement with the commitment to continue the ecumenical journey together towards the unity that Christ prayed for (cf. Jn 17:21). On the same day, our joint service to those in need of our help and solidarity has also been strengthened by a letter of intent between Caritas Internationalis and the Lutheran World Federation World Service.

In many countries in the world, people celebrate Halloween on 31st October. But in Slovenia, we do not celebrate Halloween in form of national holidays. We have other holidays on the 31st October as well as 1st November. Both days are national holidays, hence non-working days in Slovenia.

In Slovenia, we celebrate Reformation Day on the 31st October. It is connected to remembrance on a religious, political and cultural movement in the 16th century. Because of it, Slovenians got our first book in Slovene language. The movement was Reformation. On 31st October Martin Luther nailed written works (95 Theses) on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. In addition to Slovenia, Chile and Germany also celebrate this holiday on the same day.

Both these days are national holidays in Slovenia, meaning that no governmental office and most private companies do not have business hours on 31st October and 1st November 2019. At Data, we also would not be present in our office, but you can turn to us again on 4th November 2019.

With the timing of the orbit of the moon around the Earth, any year we have a Halloween full moon, we see a full moon earlier in the month on the first and we also end up with a "blue moon" on October 31st.

On 18th October 2023, the State Administration Council (SAC) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued its Notification No. 217/2023 to designate 31st October 2023 as the effective date of the Industrial Design Law 2019 (IDL) of Myanmar.

Starting from 31st October 2023, creators of industrial designs (Designs) can file applications for registration of their Designs with the Intellectual Property Department (IPD). It is expected that the IPD will soon issue notifications to determine the starting date for filing Design applications, the official application form and other forms, and the official fees.
