Hello Magleby family,
Some weeks ago I wrote saying that I was in the process of purchasing the Orson Magleby properties, both the house and the shop. After a lot of effort to secure the properties and a lot of leg work trying to work everything out, we've had to pull our offers. We are heartbroken about that decision. The properties are in such condition that finding someone willing to loan on them was very difficult. In the end the bank right in Monroe was willing to work with us, but because of the state of the properties and type of loan, we simply couldn't afford the down payment (25% of the valued price) as well as the restoration on the properties. I'm still hopeful that something will work out so that these properties can be purchased and kept within the Orson Magleby family. Despite the condition of both properties, they are beautiful and every time we had the chance to go down and walk through the home we felt such a strong connection to those of our family who had lived there.
Before we pulled our offer on the properties we were able to meet with a contractor, a structural engineer, an inspector and were also able to talk with the city about our plans for the properties. All of those experiences were very positive and if anyone is interested in moving forward in possibly purchasing the properties, we have all the information you might need. Just let me know. - Anna Lord
