Maglebys,
Mark, Director of the BYU Museum of Art, asked how Marva Peterson Shearer (1918 - 2019) fits in the family. This is her line:
Hans Olsen Magleby (1835 - 1903) + Gjertrud Marie Christiansen Roe (1838 - 1867)
     John Ephraim Magleby (1862 - 1939) + Jane (Jennie) Adam Warnock (1865 - 1955)
          Ivy Magleby (1892 - 1988) + Norman Vern Peterson (1891 - 1959)
               Jennie Marva Peterson (1918 - 2019) + Lloyd (Skip) Shearer (1916 - 2001)
The Shearers lived on west Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Lloyd was a popular columnist for Parade Magazine. Their son, Derek, was Ambassador to Finland in the Clinton administration. Their daughter, Brooke (1950 - 2009), was an aid to Hillary Clinton and wife of Strobe Talbott, Deputy Secretary of State in the Clinton administration. Their other son, Cody, is an investigative reporter in Los Angeles.

Thanks for the update on Marva. I am her first cousin, daughter of Mac, the youngest of Ephraim and Jenny’s children. I think Marva was a journalist and longtime editor of House Magazine. She had amazing energy just like her mom, my Aunt Ivy.
I visited Marva several times at her home on Sunset Blvd., but sadly hadn’t visited since I left CA five years ago.
She was so kind to me, and we used to say we were the last of the Mohicans, since there are very few of the 20 or so cousins left. We will always remember our trips to Disneyland in the 70’s courtesy of Skip and Marva. They were most hospitable.
Dear Marva, RIP........
