2026-02-24 Meeting Minutes

    • Rover team in crunch time

  • Aggressively Single Day MAGLab Field Trip (16:00, Sat 2026-02-14)

    • Apparently, there are a lot of scenic places around

    • Ben may have come out of this day with the best photos

  • Open House Party (18:00 Sun 2026-02-15)

    • Brian was there

    • Ben came later

    • Joan came to visit

Section Lead Updates

  • Brandon (CTO, Curator)

    • Boards are here

    • Inverter board “working”

      • Drawing too much power

      • Working on a buck converter model

    • CPP Manufacturing Engineering students keep coming on Wednesdays

      • Something like 1/10th of the major shows up to this makerspace

Discussion Items

  • We have an opportunity to apply for the Walmart SparkGood grant

    • Next round of apps are in March

  • Likely to look at other grants

    • Lowes

    • Home Depot

    • Target?

    • Harbor Freight?

    • Ifixit?

  • Lowe’s Community Bucket List grant (renamed)

    • We fit criteria fairly well. Fits better than any other one seen so far. Fit so nicely, we might try applying every year.

    • Applications open

    • 3 weeks to figure out

    • Use past CBL projects for inspiration

    • Support more student projects / Support what colleges don’t do

    • Expand the repair kitchen concept

    • Wishlist

      • Mill

      • Laser Cutter (big)

      • Band saw

  • Manual mill table (knee) suspiciously hard to raise and lower.

    • First noticed a month ago.

    • Greased

    • Likely the thrust bearing on the ACME screw needs replacement

    • Still bad

  • There is a monitor in the tools area now

    • Software needs updates
