2025-06-17 Meeting Minutes

Section Lead Updates

    • Still working on the outdoor awning lights

      • Circuitry inside HAL needs work

    • Still working on low voltage system

      • Yes.

    • Screen in conference room crashing.  To hook up watchdog.  Woof.

      • Still needs to be debugged

    • Internet outage reported

      • Will try to see if router needs an update

    • Electronics room drawer is nearly inaccessible

      • Brandon to take measurements and post on discord

  • Hong (Treasurer)

    • Financial report already covered this month

    • Squiggly line down (~$200) (2 keyed or 4 general will bring us net-neutral)

Discussion Items

  • We can take down the projector on the ceiling to transfer it to mobile, outdoor use.

  • Outdoor lightbulb needs replacement

    • Now shopping for LED fixtures

    • Tried to find one from offerup

    • Outdoor light was found plugged in and buzzing “the other day”

  • Upholstery cleaner

    • OK to move to level D storage

    • Might disappear any time soon

  • How to make more money

    • “Literally art.”

    • Can not go further in “Literally electronics”

    • Find + Court a mysterious benefactor that will give us money

    • Reach out to the universities

      • Bulletin boards at local college / university

        • Need approvals. 

      • Could consider a discount for students

        • More for marketing/showing that students are a target demographic.

      • Competing with library makerspace which is free.

        • They have 3D printers and laser cutter.

        • MagLab advantages would be big machines, maybe hand tools, loud stuff, Prusa XL.

    • Hold a collaborative event with local businesses

      • Cafe

      • Batting cages

      • SCAR robotics (already collaborative.  Just show up.)

      • Hold a local convention

    • Hold a child-friendly event

    • Create a business-friendly flyer and recruit members from the local industrial park

      • What kind of tools we have, etc.

      • President to ask Rosa, the flyermaster

    • Art classes

      • The repair cafes from SGV Hack have rooms for fabrics / sewing

    • Emphasis on the benefits of the space

      • Larger amount of space to do projects compared to an apartment etc

  • Develop a wholistic makerspace promotion system

    • Reinforce that we are not an “old boys” social club

    • Expand the community beyond the core members

    • Expand beyond the need for money, become a culture

    • Offer people a sense of belonging

    • We will continue the conversation on Discord.

  • Print Queueing

    • Could implement remote printer monitoring.

    • Kevin to implement camera for the XL.
