The Montana State Library & Governor's Office are seeking two professionals interested in serving on the Montana Geospatial Information Advisory Council. Role of the Council The Montana Geospatial Information Advisory Council (MGIAC) advises the State Librarian and State Library Commission on geospatial information priorities, data development, and the administration of the Montana Geospatial Information Act grant program. The Council evaluates and prioritizes requests from state, local, and tribal entities for GIS and geospatial information services. It promotes coordination across programs and agencies to reduce duplication, improve data sharing, and strengthen statewide land information efforts. Finally, the Council advocates for consistent policies, standards, and guidelines to support the effective management and use of geospatial information in Montana. Term & Expectations Appointees will serve three‑year staggered terms. Members are expected to attend at least four meetings per year. Most meetings will be held in person in Helena, Montana. Members may also have opportunities to represent the Council at geospatial conferences and related events. Travel expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with State of Montana policies. Apply Today!
