
Montana Geospatial Information Act Grant Program: Applications Now Open for State Fiscal Year 2027
The Montana State Library is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2027–2028 Montana Geospatial Information Act (MGIA) Grant Program.
Grant application materials are available for download on the MGIA Grant Information page, and completed applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on February 25, 2026.
The MGIA Council will evaluate submissions and recommend awards to the Montana State Library Commission by May 1, 2026, with final funding decisions made by May 15, 2026.
Beginning with this cycle, MGIA grants will be awarded every two years, allowing for extended project performance over a two‑year period. The total available funding for this cycle is $500,000.
Applicants are encouraged to review the Montana Geospatial Information Plan (FY26–28), which outlines the state’s geospatial priorities and provides essential context for developing competitive proposals.
