See the message below from the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) regarding a new Addressing for 9-1-1 Working Group. I plan to participate, but it would be great to see additional representation from Montana local/tribal governments that are doing the addressing. You do not need to be a member of NENA to participate. If you have any questions about participating in a NENA working group, I'd be happy to share my experience.
Thanks, Michael Fashoway, GIS Land Information Lead mfas...@mt.gov 406-444-2793

NENA is seeking volunteers for the NENA Addressing for 9-1-1 Working Group. Creation of a working group to produce a deliverable that assists the 9-1-1 industry, Addressing Authority, and GIS Professional stakeholders in supporting addressing needs of 9-1-1 systems.
The working group is seeking operational and technical subject matter experts in the User, Producer, and General Interest categories, as defined in Section 3 Document Development Process of the NENA Development Operational Procedures, NENA-ADM-001.6-2025 [dev.nena.org].
Working Group members should have a solid understanding of addressing concepts, 9-1-1 and GIS data maintenance. Ideally, a mix of GIS Data Providers with address assignment responsibilities, as well as addressing authorities that may or may not have GIS editing responsibilities are desired.
The first meeting of the Working Group will be 02/11/2026. Meetings are scheduled to be held every Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:30 ET.
