Montana State Library Commission to Meet
(HELENA)--- The Montana State Library (MSL) Commission will meet in the Gertrude Buckhous Conference Room at the Montana State Library (1201 11th Ave, Helena) and on Zoom on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The Montana State Library Commission meets at least six times per year. Commissioners include Vice-Chair Tom Burnett of Bozeman, Carmen Cuthbertson of Kalispell, McKenna Gregg, Superintendent of Public Instruction Designee, Tammy Hall of Bozeman, Brian Rossmann, Commissioner of Higher Education Appointee, Chair Robyn Scribner of Geraldine, and Peggy Taylor of Whitefish.
The Commission will consider action on:

Consent Agenda: Minutes and 4th quarter Fiscal Year 2025 Financial Report
- Open Hours Public Library Standard
- Continuing Education Program Administrative Rules Amendment and Timeline
- Excellent Library Services Award retirement
- State Library activities and electioneering
The Commission will discuss:
- The roles of government and the private sector in GIS
- American Library Association (ALA) motion review
- Montana Library Associations relationship to ALA
- Initial 2026 executive program planning
- Department of Administration (DOA) review of the Remote and Office Workspace Study, DOA services centralization, and the job classification process
- Trustee Manual Quick Start Guide review
The Commission will receive informational updates on:
- Final FY25 Work Plan
- FY26 Work Plan
- 4th Quarter FY25 reports
- Continuing Education and Certification
The Commission will review their meeting motions and directives to staff to confirm Commission intent, standing committee appointments, and future agenda items.
Members of the public who wish to share public comments on an agenda item or any matter that is within the jurisdiction of the Commission may submit the comments by June 11th at noon here: Public Comment Form
Comments may also be submitted in person.
