merging layers or updating layer created from master layer

I'm using the default 'counties' map and selected certain counties then>create new layer from selection.

This works great, until... You need to update the 'new layer' youve created and add a few more counties.  There is no way to ADD additional counties to that layer with out creating it entirely.  If i could merge layers so i could keep updating a layer, that would work, but as it is i'm at a loss.

Any ideas?

Hi Scott,

Right now there's not a way to add new features to a selection layer. You might try using a Smart Layer though, which will select features based on the value of a variable.
