I'm having try libel figuring out how to export my selections as KML
files so I can upload then to google maps.

I have a united states map with counties all showing. After selecting
the counties that are tied to a specific territory I will create a new
layer from the selection. Problem is, when I select ONLY the new
layer I just created and select file>export KML, the options are the
default original layers only.

Ideas ?

Hi Scott,

Right now the only way to export a subset as KML is to delete the unwanted features. Select them and choose Layer > Remove Features from Layer (or something like that).

That doesn't seem to work in my case.

1 - I started my map with a 'counties' layer that is built in
2 - Selected counties specific to each of my companies territories(usually 10-15)
3 - Right click selection and create new layer from selection

The problem is, if i now delete the 'counties' layer it also deletes the 'new' layer that i created from the selection.

Thoughts?

Hi Scott,

Right now selection layers depend on the layer that they're derived
from, so you can't only delete the original.

The good news is that with Magic Maps 1.3.7 (which hit the App Store
last week) you can finally export selection layers as KML. So if you
want, you might export the selection layer as KML and then re-import
as a new layer.

Best
