How to apply any text filter on text files?

Supports changing text files contents by applying any text filter on them.

I have a number of text files that I want to insert their file name in the first line of the file.
Can that be done?

It is (almost) possible by applying the filter of file contents ans using the inserter filter with full file name as format string. However MFR does not currently support putting line-breaks in format string so you cannot break after the first line.
