I have a licensed/registered copy of MRF 7.4 installed under my primary Windows 10 user account. It works flawlessly. I added a 2nd Windows 10 user account to the same computer and receive the error message noted above when trying to run the program from the context menu in File Explorer (i.e. right click, Rename Multiple Files with MFR 7). I am able, however, to launch the program from the Win 10 Start menu without issue.

As per instructions in another thread, I reactivated the program by deleting the requisite folders under C:\ProgramData and generating a new personal code. Using that code, I reactivated the program but still am unable to launch the program from the context menu in File Explorer.

Please advise. Thank you.

Update: I just checked my other Win 10 user account. I'm now getting the same error message and can no longer right click on a group of file names and launch the program. This is incredibly frustrating.

Hi

Did you try running MFR as administrator immediately after you delete the files from ProgramData?

David:

Yes, I've tried re-registering the program several times, each time running as administrator for the first time. I've not been able to reactivate the software under either Windows 10 user account. The program closes and restarts but still shows as "UNREGISTERED." It's also worth noting that my registration code is not changing after I delete the files/folders under ProgramData. I was under the impression that it was supposed to. Am I correct in that assumption?

Thank you.

Update: I just performed a clean install, as follows:
1. I activated and logged into the Administrator account on my PC.
2. I uninstalled the program.
3. I deleted the related files/folders under ProgramData and Program Files.
4. I rebooted my PC and logged back into the Administrator account.
5. I reinstalled the program.
6. I ran the program for the first time as an Administrator.
7. I entered my registration name and key, as provided via email.
8. The program successfully shows as being a "Registered Copy" when run under any/all Windows User Account on my PC.

However, the problem persists. When I select and right click on a group of files in file explorer and select "Rename with MFR7" from the context menu I get the following error message:

"You must run the program for the first time with administrator privileges."

Windows 10 64-bit version 1709 (Fall Creators Edition)

Please try the following fixed version:

Please uninstall old version and delete the related files/folders under ProgramData before installation.

I would appreciate a confirmation if it solves the issue.

David

David:

Success! The update/fresh install worked. I no longer receive a message prompting me to run the program for the first time with administrator privileges when I right click on file(s) in File Explorer.

The only thing I wanted to advise you of is that my registration key didn't "take" the first time. I had to enter the registration information twice.

I can't thank you enough for your prompt and diligent attention to the matter. It's sincerely appreciated.
