Custom Post Type Write Panel doesn't display Categories

I built a site a few years ago, and hired someone to help me set up the custom post types with magic fields. Now the site owner has said that the categories have disappeared from the custom post type write panel.

I haven't been in that site for a few years now, so I'm not sure what all versions they had. But looks like they must have updated to the latest version of Wordpress when it stopped showing categories. 

I've updated Magic Fields to the latest version of 1.7.2. The previous version they had was like 1.6. The Wordpress version is 4.5.3.

Any suggestions?

ok, first check in "Screen Options" in edit/new post page if is enable categories and check if in settings of write panel you have enable categories in "Standard Fields" section
