Installation

To install IBM Rational Software Architect Designer for WebSphere, follow these steps:

Download the compressed files from the download page and extract them into the same directory.

Run the launchpad.exe (Windows), launchpad.sh (Linux) or launchpad.app (OS X) file to start the installation wizard.

Drag an Output Text component from the palette to the View component on the canvas.

In the Properties view, select General > Value and enter Hello World! in the text box.

Save your changes by pressing Ctrl+S or clicking File > Save.

Deploying the web application

To deploy your web application to a WebSphere server, follow these steps:

In the Project Explorer view, right-click on your project and select Run As > Run on Server.

Select WebSphere Application Server as the server type and click Next.

Select an existing server or create a new one by clicking New > WebSphere Application Server v8.5 or later.

Enter your server details, such as host name, port number, user name and password, and click Finish.

Click Next and then Finish to start the server and deploy your application.

A browser window will open with your application URL. You should see Hello World! displayed on the page.
