Hi,

we probably should set up a page on the -devel group with some
guidelines about posting.

What about something along the lines of

1. Every new Thread needs to contain a patch or code contributions
2. Every poster needs have signed the MCA
3. This list is not for support questions, only for contributions
4. The contribution should be in form of
- a patch, taken from Magento root or one directory level up
- a Zip, tar.gz or tar.bz Archive, ready to be unpacked in a
magento root directory

One more addition:

5. Posts not confirming to these guidelines will probably be ignored ;)

Vinai,

Thank you for being active on the -devel group. I have made you a
"manager" on the devel forum. You can take care of monitoring
things now and also can change settings. If you make any major
changes, just let me know.

I don't think every thread needs to include a patch or code
contributions, the list should be for discussion as well. That being
said, it should be for relevant discussion, related to development and
not for silly questions or should I implement feature X. At the same
time, let's not scare people away if they have questions like that,
but work with them--no one knows where the next big idea will come from.

Thanks for all your help,
Koby

Koby,

If we start having general development questions it will just turn into a forum for other developers to get questions
about their own projects answered. We already have forums for this type of discussion and I think having this group
dedicated to core development makes more sense.

I agree with Vinai that discussion should be kept on patches/contributions for Magento Core.

Thats fine with me as long as we make it clear to those people where
those other forums are!

Sounds like a plan.

Koby

P.S. I wasn't arguing, I just believe these things will take shape
over time and I was keen to play devil's advocate a little to work out
the kinks ;)
