Community Roadmap

Hey Guys,

Happy 2010!

I would like to start discussing potential features to be included in the upcoming community roadmap.

As we mentioned, the process will be such that we will select a list of potential items, lets say 7 from the uservoice page and have the Magento team look at those features and give us a response on how long they think it will take to implement said features, or whether it is even feasible at all.

Let's start by each going through and selecting out top few suggestions and pasting links to them here. I can work on conglomerating them and presenting us with a final list to vote on.

- Edit order without creating a new one

- Improve the Webservice / XML RPC API

I believe those often needed features that make sense being part of the core in the long run. All are important to give magento more solid ground while it becomes bigger and bigger (the userbase and the code).

Hi everybody !

I agree with Vinai's choice. They are most important features/improvments IMO.

And as Koby said that we could go up to 7 choices, i would add :
 - Gift Certificates/Gift Cards for community edition
Maybe Varien will prefer not switching this feature from EE to CE...

 - Multi-store (language) SEO URLs
I read that this one would be in future v1.4. Has it been confirmed ? (i didn't check in RC release)

 - import function that really works
Having better import/export tool would be great.

 - remove the javascript requirements for the front end
It would satisfy this one too : Multipage checkout

It would sure be nice to have it in the core, but since many more B2B oriented stores don't require that functionality I'm quite happy with Unirgy's community extension.
Or does the EE Gift Certificate Feature offer improved functionality?

Hey Everybody,

I'm a little disappointed we didn't get more activity and involvement regarding this.  I know we are all busy but we also need to devote some time to think about helping strengthen the community.  Food for thought.

I will put together a list of these for us to approve to send to the Magento team to get feedback on after which they will answer us regarding timeline/probability for features to make them into the next release for us to develop the roadmap.

Does anyone want to add anything else for consideration?

Lee,

That was the point of us selecting these items, they are supposed to go to the Varien team for review and feedback. Once we hear back, we will have a good idea of what can be accomplished for the next release and we can put anything that is, on the roadmap.
