Echo360Universal Capture allows an instructor an easy way to capture, edit, publish, and view presentations recorded on their personal computers. Instructors can use Universal Capture to capture and record their presentations in real time and post them to Echo360 so they can be viewed online via Canvas or Echo360.

NOTE: You students will engage successfully with 5 to 10 minute segments by topic, rather than an hour long lecture. Reimagine how your topics can spring to life when split into bite-sized recordings. Consider Intro, topic background or prerequisite refresher, main topic, sub topics, application of topic, maybe a conclusion. All this can be easily started and stopped to create several recordings with Echo360 Universal Capture.

Commonly referred to as Echo, Echo360 is a versatile and reliable system that automatically captures lectures and converts classroom voice, video, and visual-aids into high-quality media files. These media files can be accessed online from devices such as tablets, phones, and computers. Instructors can also utilize Universal Capture (Personal), which allows them to record from their own computers.

Instructors who are teaching in classrooms that have Echo360 hardware installed can request that their lectures be recorded. If you are not teaching in a classroom that is properly equipped or would like to record lectures from your office, you can use Universal Capture (personal) to record with your personal computer.

Instructors decide how they would like to share their Echo360 recordings. Recordings can be automatically published to Brightspace or Blackboard, or shared with individual students who missed class or were excused.

The Q&A tab for the course allows you to post questions or comments about the course in general or about a particular class. You can design the questions to elicit responses from students or to provoke discussions between class members on a topic.

Besides viewing your notes, you can edit your notes, edit or remove the timestamp/location tag for each note, these notes can be collected into a Study Guide to help your students review for the class.

Echo360 provides Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) transcription services. This an option that CELT staff can activate for a course if the instructor submits a request. It is the responsibility of the instructor to review and edit transcriptions once they are complete.

Instructors who find an error in their ASR transcriptions and would like to edit them or instructors who want to edit their ASR transcriptions and turn them into correct Closed Captions can follow the instructions to Edit ASR Transcriptions.

To create a new section in Echo360, we will want to login to Blackboard, go to the course area that you want your link with Echo360 to appear (typically some content folder) and "Build Content" -> "Echo Cloud".

You can now begin to upload content to your course for this section by clicking New Class. A Class is going to be the day that you want the students to view the content. You select the date first and then after that Class is created you can upload associated content by click on the plus sign in that row. Content can be videos, or powerpoint type presentations.

Students who require captioning due to accessibility issues should contact the Student Accessibility Support Center. to get the Echo360 recordings for their course captioned.

STEP 0! Verify that your room is scheduled through the Registrar's Office, and coordinate with AV Services to obtain microphones and any other equipment necessary for recording your lectures.

Echo360 recordings are requested by the faculty who teach the course. If a student would like their course to be recorded with Echo360 they can ask their teacher or mention it in the course evaluation at the end of the semester.

Universal Capture: Personal is a stand-alone application designed to be used by instructors on their personal computers to generate video recordings. The software enables you to create video recording across multiple computing platforms via a unified interface. That means instructors can record and share video on Mac and Windows computers, inside or outside of the classroom, with an identical user experience on each device.

For those faculty members who do not yet have an Echo 360 account, it is necessary for you to login to Webcampus first. Therefore, please follow the directions below in order for you to have access to Echo360 environment. Once you have completed these steps via webcampus, thereafter users will be able to login directly to echo360.fdu.edu with their FDU NetID credentials.

This Tutorial is for users who wish to record their lectures outside the classrooms using Echo360 personal capture. Also if you would like your personal capture to be published automatically to a canvas course shell please make sure you submit a request through our Hive support site -design-instructional-technology-request to create the course in Echo360 in case it does not exist.

All classrooms have the "Classroom" version of the Echo360 Universal Capture software installed. This capture software can record the display of the instructor's PC, plus a webcam if available in the room. To record the room's document camera, you can use an installed program ("Samsung USB Viewer" for Samsung doc cams, or "Ladibug" for Lumens doc cams) to display the image on your computer screen, which then can be recorded by the Echo360 software.

The following classrooms have Echo360 recording appliances, which can record any image displayed on the projector closes to the instructor's desk, including the document camera or a personal laptop brought into the room:

Universal capture is a cross-platform, simple capture application for recording educational videos. Universal capture is replacing the current personal capture application. Downloads of the current personal capture software will be disabled on 30th August 2019. Echo360 will stop supporting personal capture from January 2020. We recommend all staff using Echo360 personal capture move to the new universal capture application as soon as possible.

For teaching content delivered via PowerPoint presentations, please use the HYMS template. To ensure content is accessible, please be sure to enter text into the title text boxes on every slide. Click on the link above and enter your HYMS email account details to access the slides. From file choose to download a copy to save your own version on your desktop to edit. Please contact he...@hyms.ac.uk if you do not have HYMS log in details and need to be sent the template directly.

This action will automatically create your Echo360 account (if not already created) and will also mean that that particular section of video recordings for that course area will be visible as an option to you to publish to in Echo360 (otherwise you will not see it as an option to publish to when you set where to publish your recording).

Repeat this step to have other sections of videos for Blackboard course areas appear in your list of options for publishing. Please contact the Learning Enhancement and Support team if you need further guidance.

Echo360 universal capture allows users to capture video from both their webcam and desktop simultaneously. Prior to recording, you can select which video inputs you wish to use. The Echo360 Capture software does not have editing, or the ability to save offline copies.

Please note that captures are immediately available to students when published from Universal Capture (unless you choose to publish to your personal content area / library from the drop-down menu when setting up the recording session).

Echo360 is a platform to manage, store, and share digital media. Within Echo 360, you can upload any media from your computer to your personal library, edit or crop videos, and embed polls directly into a video. There is built-in analytics to measure individual and overall class engagement with the content. Echo360 also includes automatic transcription, which you can edit before sharing.

Echo360 accounts are available to all faculty, students and staff. Accounts are automatically created when a video is viewed on LATTE or when a video is posted to LATTE via the Echo360 activity toolbar button.

Brandeis has Echo360 cameras installed in many physical classrooms around campus for automatic lecture recording. The physical Echo360 cameras can record both what is on the classroom projector as well as a video camera, or just one view. The course instructor can request one or both views to be automatically recorded for the semester.

Many classrooms come equipped with auto-tracking cameras that have the ability to zoom in on the presenter at the front of the room and follow them as they move. This is especially useful for recording lectures that include board writing. The list of classrooms with 360 cameras can be found at the bottom of this page.

Instructors can request their class to be automatically recorded by contacting Media and Technology Services. The benefit of lecture capture through Echo360 is that a link can be posted on the class LATTE page that will aggregate all of the recordings in one place.

Echo360 directly connects with your Zoom account. If you are logged into your Brandeis Zoom account, and save a recording to the cloud, the recording will automatically appear in your Brandeis Echo360 personal library.

If you select Choose From My Home, you will be prompted to select a video from your Echo360 personal library. Your library will include your Zoom recordings as well as items uploaded to Echo360 directly:
