Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can move my website information
from Dreamweaver to Google Sites. For example, I would like to link my
WebQuest to my Google Site but I don't know how to leave the WebQuest
on the Internet if I remove it from the Dreamweaver html site. Any
ideas?

Thanks!

Susan

Hi Susan, I apologize that it took so long for me to respond to your email.

You can move website information in Dreamweaver to other Dreamweaver sites by exporting the information as an XML file. I am not sure if this can be imported into a Google Site, but I will look into it. However, if you just want to create a link in your Google Site for Webquest or any html site, the process is pretty straight forward. When you are in the edit mode, click on the link button on the task bar. On the left hand side of the new window you will see two choices. Click on Web Address. Paste the address you want to use into the box. Then click okay.

Let me know if this helped, or if I even answered your question.

Well...here's the problem. Early this semester I met with Leigh about
how to fix the Dreamweaver site because what has happened is that
there are files within files and they need to be straightened out
before the website will work correctly. My WebQuest will not work
correctly if I go to the web. If I go to the Dreamweaver software I
can at least click on the Index page and it will bring up the page
that we were trying to re-create but the Mayan WebQuest does not work
at all. So until I can get the Website situation fixed I cannot link
the Portfolio in Google Sites to anything. Any suggestions?

This may be a little bit of work, but you could try creating a new Dreamweaver site. Remember in my last email I said you could export Dreamweaver files in order to import them to another computer with dreamweaver or into another dreamweaver site. This way when the new site is created you can keep the files organized in such a way that google sites can read the link. However, I don't know how many files you have so I don't know if this would be too arduous or complex of a solution. I will ask a few other people about your WebQuest not working at all - as I am not very familiar with it - and see if they have any suggestions. Hopefully I will have more ideas for you soon.

If we could just get my original site up and running that would be the
lesser of two evils because everything is already there. Let me know
what you find out.

Hi Susan -
Instead of worrying about copying things, wouldn't it be easier to
simply link to the webquest that is already in your MSU space? Here is
the direct link --
https://www.msu.edu/~mcginnsu/backup/WebQuest/index.html

Let me know if this helps!

Thank you for helping with that link. Could you explain to me how I
would get to the MSU space in order to get the rest of the links? Then
I won't have to bother you guys with it again.

Thanks,
Susan

Hi Leigh,

I'm almost done! I am experiencing one problem and wondered if you
could shed any light on it or if you have a recommendation?

I have put an image on the top of my synthesis paper but when it loads
in the browser it shows that it has a broken link and the picture
doesn't show up. Do you think this is an easy fix or should I just cut
the picture?
