Panel discussion on Literature and Social Change
Moderated by Dr Priyanca Mathur Velath, Dept of Political Science

Sept 16, 2 pm
AV Room (PG Block)

The student-led panel discussion is an integral part of Literati 2016, as it brings together differing views and analysis on some of the searing themes of Mahashweta Devi's works. Devi wrote tirelessly on tribal displacement, caste and gender oppression, and institutionalised violence. These themes still find resonance in our world today. The panel discussion will focus on literature and various other media like films, theatre, poetry, reportage and other non-fiction texts that articulate the questions that arise from these themes.

The students of the MA English course will be focussing on Mahashweta Devi's works, while students from the other Humanities departments of the PG Block are free to chose from the work of other authors, directors and reporters.

Each student will get 7 minutes to present their ideas, after which the moderator will throw the floor open to questions.
