Hi all,
The email below is from EVA Executive Director Chris Celek, who is out this week, but we wanted to share some important new information regarding potential DOE actions that you can take part in helping resist. There's an attached email template for you to utilize as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello EVA Chapter Presidents,
We have learned that there is a list of programs to terminate being circulated within the federal Department of Energy. We have heard that the PlugStar Consumer EV Education Program that supports our chapters’ National Drive Electric Month and Drive Electric Earth Month events is on this list.
However, we believe that this list is not yet final, and we want to do whatever we can to get it removed from the list.
We believe that the single most effective approach is to ask members of Congress (or their staff) to contact the Office of the Secretary of Energy and request his support for continuing the program.
I ask that you reach out to your Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate, as soon as possible and ask his/her staff to reach out to the Energy Department on this.
Specifically, we would like them to email the Energy Department with the attached language.
The key is to contact Republican members as one of their constituents and let them know that you are a voter in their district. Let them know that your nonprofit volunteer organization has federal money at risk that benefits your community and that you are asking for their help as one of their constituents.
Thank you for your assistance.
Chris Celek
Executive Director
