As per Lee's suggestion I've researched some of the user groups and found these to be their meeting times. Please add any additional groups you may know of that may conflict.

MADdotNET: First Wednesday of the Month 5:30
MADPASS: Fourth Wednesday of the Month 5:30
High Tech Happy Hour: 3rd Thursday of the Month 5-7?

I'm thinking we could meet the second or third Wednesday of the Month at 5:30. It seems like Wednesdays or Thursdays are a popular time and right after work works best.

As for format I was thinking:

5:30 - 6:00 - Meet and great - mingle, eat, etc
6:00 - 7:00 - Demonstrations and presentations
7:00 - ~7:45 - Script Party - Typically share cool things with the group that you have done with PowerShell or discuss the days topic. Totally informal presentations and sharing session.

Hey Adam, everything you've mentioned sounds good to me.

What were your thoughts as to when the first meeting would happen?
Would you want to go as soon as December or wait until January?
December can get interesting with vacations and all that but it might
be useful to have an informal "brain storming" meeting to prep for a
highly publicized January meeting.

I'll talk to our office admin this week regarding everything relating
to using a conference room after hours. I don't expect any difficulty
getting this setup.

Another thought:
Did you have any plans for getting a website setup? I'd figure getting
a simple wordpress setup would suffice!

Hey Lee,

I was shooting for January to be the first official meeting as you suggested. I agree, with the holidays and such things it could be difficult to meet during that time. I like the idea of a brain storming meeting though. We could do it say, Tuesday November 28th or the following week Tuesday December 5th. We wouldn't have to meet at your office if this isn't enough time because I can imagine the group would be smaller and wouldn't need a projector or anything. Maybe just in a coffee shop somewhere.

Question to the group: How many people would be interested in being part of the brain storming session?

A WordPress site would be a good idea. It's also been suggested to get on Meetup.com which offers a few nice things but that'll cost a few bucks. I also have been talking to Brian and once we have 10 members we can sign up for official group recognition by one of the groups that does that and apply for funding. Until then, we can just use a WordPress for announcements.

I'd be interested in the brain storming session. I think December 5th
work better for me.

Lee,

Would the 5th work for you? If so could you reserve that room?

Everyone else,

How does the 5th sound?

Works for me!

Let's plan on the 5th!

I have left a voicemail with our office admin asking about it. I will
post as soon as I hear more info!

Not sure if I will be available for that or not yet.  If the office idea falls through there are tons of spaces on the UW campus that can be used for this.  Might be able to strike up some interest on campus for powershell too.  I've been sharing a lot of my code lately with other sys admins on campus, so I am trying to spread some interest.

Conference Room is a go!

I have the room reserved for the 5th starting at 5:30.

Address info:
2501 W Beltline Hwy
Madison, WI 53713

The conference room is in the East Tower on the 4th Floor in the
"Wipfli" space.

We can certainly talk about hosting the meetings elsewhere if we end
up wanted to do it downtown or whatever, but we should be 100% good to
go for this location for the first meeting.

Definitely spread the word! Thanks for offering the room. If we need it in the future, I will make sure to reach out.
