Hey guys,

Just had a couple questions to help with the planning process.

What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell? What would you like
to get out of this user group? Where are you all located? What days
work best? Weekdays? Weekends?

Thanks,

Adam

Hello all,

1) What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell?
Nothing at the moment, I've been playing with bash and bat scripting at work and it's becoming a bigger part of my day to day activity and have been yearning for something a little more powerful.

2) What would you like to get out of this user group?
A discussion of what I can be doing as far as automation of systems. I'm a Desktop Systems Admin in my department, and anything that relieves the headache of keeping machines managed, and automating post imaging tasks is much appreciated. I also would in general just want to have help along the way as I learn PowerShell.

3) Where are you located?
Downtown Madison.

4) What days work best?
I'm new to town, I don't have friends so any day works fine for me.

Thanks for organizing this!

-Edwin

1) What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell?
Small company and we are all microsoft. SCCM, Lync, ETC..  All I have
is an admin script to manage machines and a script to make new users.
I have fun tinkering with PS though.

2) What would you like to get out of this user group?         I like
sharing my scripting experience and finding neat ways to be more lazy.

3) Where are you located?         West Side Deming Way

4) What days work best?         I'll meet if I have time for it. Just
post a date and I'll come if I can.  My time is very sporadic.

1) What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell?  I'm a
"sysadmin" in a ~1000 user windows environment so I do the following
sorts of things:
Various reports based on AD.
New User Provisioning / Exchange Stuff
Folder / Permission creation when rolling out new sites /
servers

2) What would you like to get out of this user group?  build my
power-shell skillz, working with larger scripts, be proficient enough
to participate in the Scripting Games.
3) Where are you located?         South Madison (with a conference
room we could probably use if needed!)

4) What days work best?       Evenings? I would try to avoid doing
meetings on nights that other user groups are going on (MADPASS, High
Tech Happy Hour, MADDOTNET, etc.)

That'd be great if you have somewhere we could meet! You're right off the beltline right? That might be the perfect place.

Yep! 2501 West Beltline Highway, Madison, WI.

We have a pretty big conference room that would be available in the
evenings as long as we had some lead time to reserve it.

I was also thinking you might want to contact Brian Lewis @ Microsoft.
ble...@microsoft.com

One of his duties is to support user groups in the area. I have talked
to him in the past about setting up user groups, and he would likely
be more than willing to provide some resources and perhapes even some
cash to help buy pizza for meetings. Shoot him an email at:
ble...@microsoft.com and let him know of your plans and he might be
able to help us out! If you want Microsoft to help / be involved that
is!

Sounds perfect. I've emailed Brian to see what he can do for us. I'll investigate some of the other groups and make sure this one doesn't coincide with them and then suggest some times. Maybe we can vote or something to see how many people would be able to make the suggested times.

Hey Adam,

I'm running the Milwaukee Script Club. Let me know if I can be of any
assistance in getting your group going.

This all sounds great to me. I have work till 5:30, but I'm sure I can
leave early on meeting days. If that conference room falls through,
there are several in my building we could use (downtown).

What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell?
Nothing yet. I'm going to start tinkering with it soon; now that all
the summer activities have ended for the year.

What would you like to get out of this user group?

Whatever I can, I guess. I'm no programmer and am not fluent in any
languages but I'd like to start making myself more marketable, and for
an aspiring network admin PowerShell seems like a good place to start.

Where are you all located?

I live downtown and work in Sun Prairie

What days work best? Weekdays? Weekends?

I would say weeknights are best for me. Weekends are usually pretty
hectic.

scripting techniques in general.
3) Where are you all located?
Dodgeville, WI (obviously willing to drive to Madison)

4)What days work best? Weekdays? Weekends? Weekdays Monday - Thursday
evenings

1) What kind of things are you doing with PowerShell?         I've
created some small modules to organize functions, filters, aliases.
Automation scripts, some ETL type jobs, mail scripts, "glue" to hold
other things together. I use it in the console every day too. It
slows down my workflow a bit-- but I find if I don't do it this way I
slip into familiar habits. Pretty much what it sounds like others are
doing. Developer in a finserv organization. 250ish employees / 11 in
IT / 2 DEVs.2) What would you like to get out of this user group?
To learn, teach, and network. See how others use the product. 3)
Where are you located?         Live in Poynette, work in Baraboo.
Meeting in Madison is fine.4) What days work best?         Week nights
are best. Wednesdays seem best.
